Preventing HIV infection among Latinos is a top priority, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but the Latino community continues to battle for adequate resources and funding. Especially âmales who have sex with malesâ or âMSMââa term coined by epidemiologists in the 1990s to encompass men who engage in homosexual sex, regardless of their declared sexual orientationâand Transgender individuals.

Funding cut for tattoo removal program
The CARENCEN Tattoo Removal program was founded in 1998 to address the needs of the Missionâs at-risk youth seeking to move past the negative associations that their tattoos chained them to.
âWe donât turn our backs on people that are willing to change,â said Lizbett Calleros, the programâs coordinator.
