“Mission Housing was a safe haven, a place I could call home, and during a time where there was so much violence around [my family], that was sacred for us.”

– Maria D., Mariposa Gardens

Over the last 50 years, we’ve collected thousands of stories like Maria’s*. Her story speaks of resiliency, of opportunity — a tale of gratitude that Mission Housing was ready, willing, and able to grant support when her family needed it the most.

Our mission to create, preserve and stabilize is stronger than ever before. Over the last two years, not only have we persevered through a pandemic, we’ve thrived — growing our portfolio by building and preserving hundreds of new homes, and stabilizing the lives of over 3,000 people like Maria through our Resident Services programs.

As we turn the page and begin writing a new chapter in our city’s story, it’s important we remain strong, united and resilient. With help from those who love San Francisco over the last five decades, we’ve built more than just buildings — we’ve built homes. We’ve built communities. We’ve built a legacy.

We ask that you join us as we celebrate 50 years of service during “Built in the Mission” on October 27, 2022, at La Fenix at 1950 — the neighborhood’s symbol of rebirth and second chances. Your presence at this event benefits our mission and ongoing work to provide affordable housing and vital services to the people who need it most. Together, we can ensure community members like Maria always have a safe haven and that the next 50 years of Mission Housing are even more glorious than its first half-century.
