The opening reception of “Otra Onda/Otra Vez” created an excitement of 24th Street in the Mission on August 14 drawing more than 300 people to the Juan Fuentes Gallery.

The show featured 50 framed portraits of lowriders by photographers Joe Ramos, Lou Dematteis, Gato Rivera, Yolanda Lopez, Gustavo Vasquez, and Wilfredo Castaño.

Attendees got to meet some of the photographers and listen to some poetry from Alejandro Murguia. Musical entertainment by DJ Gabriel Muñoz (OG SpaceCholo) also added to the festive atmosphere.

Seven lowrider cars also added to the evening’s festivities and got the attention of attendees. The cars, who are part of the San Francisco Lowriders Council, were parked in front of the gallery along 24th Street.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 17 with a closing reception. The Juan Fuentes Gallery is part of Acción Latina. It is located at 2958-24th St. For gallery hours, call 415-648-1045.
