In need of affordable housing options? Thinking of owning your own home? Need help with your children’s education expenses? Come join us at City College of San Francisco’s Mission campus at 1125 Valencia St., on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. for a free workshop to help you get started with your family financial planning. The two-hour event will feature four presentations in English and Spanish on the topics below:
College Scholarship Opportunities: Do you or your children need help with finding financial assistance for their college education? There are multiple existing scholarship programs matching donors to students who need support. There are also strategic advisers for college available to provide hands-on one-on-one support for the application process, financial aid and modest student loans. Here, you will learn what you need to know to get started.
Tax Savings for Families and Seniors: If you are planning to transfer your property to your children or simply thinking of relocating or downsizing to a new home, you may qualify for Prop. 58/193/60 tax saving programs to keep your property from reassessing to market value, thus saving tax dollars! Other than tax savings, planning ahead can also help you avoid probate, which is a legal proceeding for the court to distribute a person’s assets to the heirs or beneficiaries after death.
