Acclaimed Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte performed at Frost Amphitheater on Sunday July 24th in the first of four U.S. stops on her world tour. And, in her typical fashion, Laferte delivered range. She sang in both English and Spanish, she belted, she whispered. She had the audience swaying to the melancholy “Funeral” and twirling partners to “El Beso.”

The concert celebrated not only her two new albums– the California folk-rock inspired 1940 Carmen and the Regional Mexican inspired SEIS– but also older classics like “Pa’ Donde Se Fue,” “Amor Completo,” “Amárrame,” and “Mi Buen Amor.”

The crowd, dotted with Chilean flags, embroidered blouses, and hair pinned up with red roses, sang the chorus to the final song of the night, “Tu Falta De Querer.” Mon Laferte watched, smiling and mouthing the words on stage as a choir of hundreds serenaded her.

She also performed in Las Vegas on July 27, in McAllen, Texas, on the 29th, and concludes stateside stops in LA on August 2nd. You can listen to her music here.
