“My name is Jorge Argueta. I was born in El Salvador. My family owned a tiny restaurant known for its delicious food. The restaurant was located in front of a bus terminal where the drivers used to bring people from the capital, San Salvador and from all over. While eating, they would tell fantastic stories. I grew up listening to them. Little did I know that later in my life, hearing these stories would influence my life as a writer,’ he says.

Other literary credits include his early books of poesía profana: “Love Street & Other Poems,” “Del Ocaso a la Alborada / From Sundown to Dawn,” and “La Puerta Del Diablo / The Devil’s Gate.” Jorge Tetl Argueta is also available for classroom presentations, literacy workshops, and/or book fairs.

Venue: Sunrise Restaurant / Las Mañanitas, 3126 24th St.,

  1. This is an amazing piece that aeressds some truths about the fundamental fabric of life. Sure, you could have thrown something in about the time you got drunk and threw up in the swimming pool, or when the death squads took you to a deserted road at midnight, but for a one-page essay this is core.
