In 2012, Emory Douglas, former minister of culture for the Black Panther Party, went to Chiapas, Mexico to work with Zapatista artists to make art and share visions and bring together the revolutionary art traditions of two communities. Artists Emory Douglas and Rigo 23 will present art and photography from the Zapantera Negra project and share experiences of the Black Panthers and Zapatistas, and their common vision of Emiliano Zapata through the artwork of two communities, whose hearts and movements have led a struggle for liberation.

The event is sponsored by the Chiapas Support Committee and proceeds support Zapatista communities in Chiapas, Mexico.
