Don’t let this “Once in a Lifetime” opportunity pass you by.

Michael V. Rios was born in Oakland, California and is graduate of the San Francisco Academy of Art College.

In the seventies, Michael turned his attention towards San Francisco’s Mission District and created some of the first large murals that made the Mission District famous and brought him national acclaim. One can see examples of the art of Michael Rios throughout the Mission from the beloved 24th Street Mini Park to the 24th Street BART station to countless other locations too many to mention. The scope and depth of his work is unparalleled and has been seen and sought after by art lovers, collectors, and aficionados worldwide.

One of his murals located at South Van Ness and 22nd entitled “Aspire to Inspire” featured and caught the attention of Carlos Santana, another “Jewel of the Mission”. Shortly after the dedication the Santana Mural as it had come to be known Michael began working for Santana designing concert backdrops, custom clothing, guitars, and several album covers, including the Grammy Award winning “Supernatural.” This collaboration with Carlos Santana led to other commissioned artwork that has appeared on several other recordings, including Grammy Award Winner Poncho Sanchez’ “Latin Spirits,” and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Steve Winwood’s “About Time”, to name a few. Michael has also created original artwork for the Latin Recording Academy, the Mars Family, the Andre Agassi Foundation, Sony Signatures, LP Percussion and AGInteractive.

Music and Art Connection

In addition to being a fine artist, Michael is also an accomplished musician and this naturally created a synergy between his art and the music he loves. This appreciation of art and music has inspired him to create many works of art that include and pay tribute to some of our most respected icons of music, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendricks, John Lee Hooker, and of course Carlos Santana.

Come and appreciate the art of Michael Rios for yourself and join us for this “Once in a Lifetime” opportunity.
