Beneath vibrant rows of papel picado, the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District was packed with vendors, dancers, singers, lowriders, and hundreds of community members during the Fiesta de las Américas celebration on Saturday.

The event commemorated the many cultures that make up San Francisco’s Latinx diaspora, including Mexicans, Salvadorans, Peruvians, Nicaraguans, Brazilians and other Latin American groups. It also marked the 10th anniversary of the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local businesses and street vendors in the neighborhood’s historic commercial corridor.

Acción Latina’s R.A.I.C.E.S fellow Alexa “LexMex” Treviño photographed the celebration and its many attendees for El Tecolote, capturing the event’s festive energy.
