Josie’s Place for Bereaved Youth and Families is a small nonprofit that provides peer-support groups to children and teens who are grieving a death. The groups provide a safe environment for youth to explore and express their grief with others who have had a similar experience.
Parents/guardians meet in concurrent groups so that the entire family receives support. Josie’s Place is offering a volunteer facilitator training in January/February 2014. We are seeking individuals who both have experience working children and have experience with death and grief, or have a sincere interest in our work. Men and people of color are encouraged to apply.
Bi-cultural, bi-lingual Spanish-speakers are especially needed for our Spanish groups. The training dates are: Wednesday, 1/22/14 6-9PM Saturdays, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8 10AM-5PM Wednesday, 2/12 6-9PM Trainees are required to attend each day of training. Information meetings will take place on Monday, 12/2, 7-9PM and Wednesday 1/8/14, 7-9PM. Please email us with your interest at info@josiesplace.org.
