Nuevo Cancionero Daniel Velázquez delivered an energetic and nostalgic concert uniting Latin Folk and American Jazz musicians in a tribute to the woman known as La Voz de America (the Voice of America), Mercedes Sosa. El Tecolote photographer Jorge Lopez was on hand to document the festivities that chronicled Sosa’s life story and the artistic movement known simply as Nueva Cancion, a folk music revival in born Mendoza, Argentina, in 1963 characterized by progressive and politicized lyrics often associated with left-wing politics.
