Nearly 1,000 marchers filled Oakland’s International Boulevard on Jan. 19, honoring civil rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King. The demonstrators began marching from the Fruitvale BART station plaza at around 12:30 p.m., and concluded near the Oakland Coliseum at around 4 p.m. Peacefully celebrating Dr. King’s legacy, the marchers also addressed issues such as gentrification and police brutality.
