[su_box title=”Photos Joel Angel Juárez” box_color=”#131212″]Sandra Cuadra, a longtime community leader and icon who lived in the Mission District for 30 years, would’ve been celebrating her 51st birthday on Sunday, Feb. 15. Her friends, the “Tiny Locas,” celebrated in her stead.

Cuadra died of cancer on Oct. 29, 2013, leaving behind a lasting legacy of community involvement. As a young woman, Caudra spent time with the close-knit, Mission District female group the “Tiny Locas.” Her community involvement also included coordinating the Graffiti Abatement Program through the Department of Public Works, and a gang prevention program that later evolved into the Homies Organizing the Mission to Empower Youth (H.O.M.E.Y.) organization.[/su_box]
