In recent years, activists have flooded the streets of San Francisco and nearby cities to bring awareness to police brutality and the repeated killings of people of color at the hands of law enforcement.
The deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garnerāamong many othersārattled the nation.
In San Francisco, local communities protested the police shootings of Alex Nieto, Amilcar Perez Lopez and most recently Mario Woods.
The following images document the Bay Areaās reaction to the grand jury announcements from both the Brown and Garner cases. Both police officers from the separate incidents were found not guilty.
