Creating altars for Día de los Muertos is one of our community’s most beloved ancient rituals. To celebrate this season of connection, El Tecolote invites our readers to share photos of their altars by Tuesday, October 25, 2025.
You can email your photograph to katieb@eltecolote.org. Selected images will be featured across our platforms and in our special Día de los Muertos print edition, coming out October 30.

We’re also thrilled to partner with the San Francisco Symphony for this community project. Everyone who submits a photo will automatically be entered into a giveaway for a chance to win two free tickets to Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” in Concert with the SF Symphony, featuring live orchestra at Davies Symphony Hall on Wednesday, October 29.
