Featuring photos from the 2010 San Francisco Carnaval and others from the April 22, 2011 City Hall Carnaval reception, this multimedia piece by El Tecolote newspaper invites you  to visit the Mission on the weekend of May 28 and 29 and celebrate with us when el barrio hosts the largest multicultural celebration of California.  San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee  has declared May 28 & 29  San Francisco Carnaval weekend.  This year’s theme is “Live your fantasy!” The two-day festival will take place on Harrison street, between 16th and 23, featuring food, crafts, music and many activities for the whole family.  On Sunday, starting at 9:30 a.m. watch one of the largest Carnaval parades in the world, as it transforms 24th and Mission streets into the most vibrant place in the world.  Both the festival and the parade are free.
