The event was organized by the BlackOUT Collective and the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. Speakers at the rally included the musicians Janelle Monae and Jidenna as well as trans activist Miss Major, Oscar Salinas, Benjamin Bac Sierra, and members of Alex Nieto’s and Oscar Grant’s families. After the rally, protesters marched from the BART plaza to the Mission Police Station on Valencia Street singing, chanting and holding up signs with the names of those killed by police. Upon their arrival at the Mission Police Station, the protesters were greeted by a line of officers clad in riot gear. At the front and center was Craig Tiffe, one of the two SFPD officers responsible for the shooting death of Amilcar Perez-Lopez.
