More than 150 photos were submitted to this year’s Accion Latina and El Tecolote’s 2nd annual photography exhibit and contest: Latino/a life in the Bay Area. And just like last year, choosing the top crop of images proved trying. We had five winners this year: First, Second and Third place along with two Honorable Mentions. These were announced at this year’s exhibit on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Eric Quezada Center for Culture and Politics on 518 Valencia Street (between 16th and 17th Streets).

Here are those pictures, some of which captured the pleasure and pain of Latino/a life in the Bay Area.

The exhibit, which also featured El Tecolote’s top photography over the past year, will be on display from Dec. 9-12, from noon to 4 p.m. Photographs will be available for purchase.”
