Karla Lara in concert

Based in Honduras, Karla Lara is one of the most prominent women performers in today’s Canto popular movement. She is respected throughout Latin America not only for her unforgettable voice, but also for her unwavering opposition to Honduras’ coup government. Karla sings from the classic Nueva Trova. In addition, she puts an original touch on traditional Trova forms to take on themes of love, motherhood, human rights and to sing a hopeful hymn for what she calls “the Honduras that we all deserve”. On this tour, Karla will be accompanied by José Velázquez Mejía and Arnoldo Hernandez on percussion and guitar. She has released two highly acclaimed CDs, Donde Andar (2004), and Antes del Puente (2008)
