In the 70-80\u2019s, Nicaragua became the new Vietnam, and again, the solidarity movement in support of SF was born out of SF, with key support coming from The Mission District and Berkeley.<\/p>\n<p>The remake was re-written and performed by Nicaraguan singer-songwriter, Katia Cardenal, who performed several times in SF\u2019s Bay Area solidarity concerts (La Pe\u00f1a, Brava) with her brother Salvador as the Duo Guardabarranco.<\/p>\n<p>The video presents images from SF\u2019s Nicaraguan Solidarity movement in chronological order from 1976-87, includes historical photos from UC Berkeley\u2019s Examiner Collection as well as noted photographers such as Chris Felver (Lawrence Ferlinghetti), Lou Dematteis, and Marvin Collins.
