The stakes are especially high for Californians heading into the June 2 primary election. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has led the state for seven years, is term-limited and cannot run again. In a crowded race with 61 candidates on the ballot and five leading contenders in a rapidly shifting race<\/a>, voters will help decide the future direction of California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under California\u2019s primary system, the two candidates who receive the most votes in the June 2 primary, regardless of party affiliation, will advance to the general election this November. To help voters better understand the race, El Tecolote <\/em>partnered with the San Francisco Public Press <\/em>to explain how the leading gubernatorial candidates plan to address issues impacting Latino communities in the S.F. Bay Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
