Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and each site has a limited supply. To receive a meal, children or their guardian must provide the student\u2019s name, grade and school<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sf.gov\/departments--children-youth-and-their-families\/free-youth-meals-sfusd-school-strike?preview=true&amp;ts=20260206124013\"> are available here<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Latino Task Force (LTF) will provide lunch and breakfast for SFUSD students who rely on district-provided meals at two locations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mission Food Hub | 701 Alabama Street<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Casa de Apoyo | 4834 Mission Street.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To get meals, children or their caregiver need to provide their name, grade and school. Caregivers are allowed a maximum of three to four grab\u2013and-go meals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breakfast will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at both sites. Meal distribution is set to continue if the strike goes on for more days, said Efrain Barrera, LTF interim executive director.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some businesses in the Mission District <a href=\"https:\/\/eltecolote.org\/content\/en\/sfusd-free-food-mission-list\/\">are also offering free food<\/a> during the closures, including La Taqueria and El Yucatan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/u\/2\/embed?mid=1Ajwl_yTYWsC4ej_488QOgczryH3zM8g&#038;ehbc=2E312F\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are child care options available?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Children under 5 who are enrolled in SFUSD Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs or preschool may be eligible for temporary childcare through San Francisco\u2019s Department of Early Childhood (DEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents can request referrals Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Children\u2019s Council at 445 Church Street, San Francisco, CA 94114\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact: 415-343-3300 | <a href=\"mailto:rr@childrenscouncil.org\">rr@childrenscouncil.org<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact: 1-844-644-4300<strong> <\/strong>| <a href=\"https:\/\/wuyee.org\/for-families\/child-care-resource-and-referral\/\">wuyee.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wu Yee Children&#8217;s Services at 888 Clay Street, San Francisco, CA 94108<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are there places children can go during the school day?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The district is partnering with community and faith-based organizations to offer daytime activities and supervision for SFUSD students during regular school hours. Priority will be given to students who qualify for food assistance, are unhoused or are English learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SFUSD has compiled a list of off-site locations in a Google Doc, including contact information and program websites. Mission Action also operates the Stay Over Program, which provides overnight shelter for families experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is happening with the strike?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The tentative agreement reached early Friday morning must still be approved by union members and the Board of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools will remain closed Friday as a transition day. Educators are expected to return to campuses to prepare for reopening.
