Former U.S. poet laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, who also was a long-standing Mission poet, is this year\u2019s winner of the Frost Medal for lifetime achievement. The 74-year-old Herrera was U.S. poet laureate from 2015-2017. He also served as California poet laureate from 2012-2014. He is best known for such collections as \u201cHalf the World in Light\u201d and \u201c187 Reasons Mexicanos Can\u2019t Cross the Border.\u201d Herrera often contributed poems to El Tecolote\u2019s literary supplement titled \u201cRevista Literaria\u201d.
