Delegations from different parts of the Cusco region marched throughout the city for the national strike on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023. The city complied with the strike and remained blocked almost in its entirety. Attempts to take over the Cusco airport were stopped by strong police repression that left at least 6 people injured. \nHundreds of demonstrators arrived from different rural communities in the Cusco region to join the marches. Another group that traveled to Lima on behalf of their communities had heavy confrontations with a large police contingent in the capital.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
