Acclaimed Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte performed at Frost Amphitheater on Sunday July 24th in the first of four U.S. stops on her world tour. And, in her typical fashion, Laferte delivered range. She sang in both English and Spanish, she belted, she whispered. She had the audience swaying to the melancholy \u201cFuneral\u201d and twirling partners to \u201cEl Beso.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert celebrated not only her two new albums\u2013 the California folk-rock inspired 1940 Carmen<\/em><\/a> and the Regional Mexican inspired SEIS<\/em><\/a>\u2013 but also older classics like \u201cPa\u2019 Donde Se Fue,\u201d \u201cAmor Completo,\u201d \u201cAm\u00e1rrame,\u201d and \u201cMi Buen Amor.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crowd, dotted with Chilean flags, embroidered blouses, and hair pinned up with red roses, sang the chorus to the final song of the night, \u201cTu Falta De Querer.\u201d Mon Laferte watched, smiling and mouthing the words on stage as a choir of hundreds serenaded her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
