Photo Estela Moler; Courtesy Teatro Mitote y Cine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Under the premise that theater is the largest mirror where all passions, habits, faults and other aspects of the human spirit are reflected, the theater company Teatro Mitote y Cine comes all the way from Arizona to present the play \u201cTo Each Their Own Mexican.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This play will be presented on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA\u2019s theater). The play promises a fun evening filled with irony and controversy over the behaviors and social multiplicity of \u201cThe Mexican,\u201d as a subject, and by extension \u201cThe Latin American.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The theater troupe\u2019s director, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Ocegueda, has over 20 years of experience writing and producing original scripts for theater and film. His passion has led him to experiment with all theater-related activities, from being a screenwriter, producer and director, to working as an actor in the scenes he writes himself.<\/p>\n<p>The word \u201cMitote\u201d\u2014from which the troupe derives its name\u2014is rooted in the Nahuatl language spoken in Mexico and Central America, and the word \u201cmitotl\u201d means raucous party or community celebration.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20368\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20368\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eltecolote.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Teatro-Mitote-edit.jpg?quality=89&#038;ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20368  \" alt=\"Los actores Juan Cuevas, Jose A. Photo Gonzalo Vilchis; Courtesy Teatro Mitote y Cine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to theater reviews \u201cTo Each Their Own Mexican\u201d underlines the continuous search for Mexican and Latin American identity with its representations of irreverent cultural traditions included in the script.<\/p>\n<p>The suggested similarities between Mexican and Latin American individuals are based on the fact that these individuals share language and culture, as well as the history, ideologies, governments and similar problems, which have left an indelible mark on their identity.<\/p>\n<p>Teatro Mitote y Cine will also be offering an Intensive Workshop on Acting and Theater for anyone interested in learning about the various aspects of this art.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will be held at the MCCLA on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the four hours of classes will include teaching tools and practicing techniques for acting, performance and stage presence, as well as techniques on how to prepare for theater, film and commercial auditions.<\/p>\n<p>No previous experience is required to attend the workshop, and the cost will be $20.
