The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts came alive, Feb. 4, for a cultural night featuring Nicaraguan artists.

The first group, “Los Hijos del Maiz,” displayed traditional Nicaraguan dress and dance, while the other performers had more of an Afro-Caribbean theme—everyone had a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

The second group of dancers, “Ballet Folklorico Nicaragua Viva” did a performance from a literary play using masks. Ena Prado directs this group, and the classes for learning the dances are free of charge.

Both groups partnered with Chavalo.com to raise funds for the less fortunate in Nicaragua.
