The Presidio of San Francisco (June 1, 2017) – Presidio, San Francisco’s Golden Gate National Park, is pleased to announce free public activities this summer, including a colorful cultural celebration, Pasados ​​del Presidio . This event marks the anniversary of San Francisco honoring the heritage of pre-Hispanic cultures in the Presidio-Ohlone, Spanish and Mexican-and the founding of El Presidio de San Francisco in 1776. Celebrate Past Presidio – Commemoration of the cultural heritage of the Presidio

On June 23 and 24, the Presidio invites the public to celebrate the Latino and indigenous communities of the Bay Area in Pasados ​​del Presidio . There are free events such as the Fun afternoon for children (Friday, June 23, from noon to 3 pm), where you can enjoy practical activities such as making tortillas, candles and adobes, storytelling, a visit by Juanito el Burro, Live history, archeology and much more. In the afternoon dance performances by Rumsen Ohlone and the Mexican Folkloric Ballet are offered. The Mexican restaurant Arguello will be selling its representative dishes.

On Saturday, June 24 (from 10:30 am to noon), the Californians , descendants of the original founding families of the Expedition of John Baptist de Anza, return to the Presidio riding a colorful cavalcade to honor the journey of their ancestors since Mexico to found the Presidio of San Francisco . This event is known as the San Francisco Anniversary . Later that day (from 2 pm to 4 pm), the Los Cenzontles Bay Area favorites will feature live music from a variety of regions in Mexico: Veracruz’s Jarocho, Michoacán Indians’ pirekuas, boleros, corridos and Rancheras

Picnic Sites and Community Picnic Events

The Presidio offers a half-dozen free picnic sites where groups of various sizes can bring their own food (on the sites there are grills). There are sites available from Crissy Field to Baker Beach. Presidio Officers Club – museum and cultural center

The Presidio Officers Club, built at the same time as the Dolores Mission, is the oldest building in the Presidio and is a wonderful place to know the history and people of the beginning of the Presidio.
