Piri Thomas was a Puerto Rican writer and poet whose memoir of personal redemption “Down These Mean Streets” became a national best-seller. He was a noted author, educator, generous and beloved member of the community, who overcame a life of drug addiction and incarceration in his youth, and later dedicated his adult years to the struggle for peace and justice. ¡Punto!
